Welcome to the 21st Asian workshop on First-Principles Electronic Structure Calculations.
This workshop is an annual series starting in 1998 to provide a forum for discussing all the important
issues in computational condensed matter physics and materials science. The principal purpose of
the workshop is to offer an opportunity for exchanging ideas and enjoying in-depth discussion both
in the methodology in computational physics and chemistry and its application to a wide variety of
materials having not only fundamental significance and but also industrial importance. This workshop
consists of invited talks and contributed poster presentations. The majority of the participants
are active scientists and researchers in electronic structure theory from all Asian countries. Yet
scientists, and researchers from other areas are also very welcome to join us. In 2018, this workshop
will be held in the Fusion Hall (KI building) of KAIST, located at Daejeon, Korea from Oct. 29 to
Oct. 31. Daejeon is located in the central region of Republic of Korea, serving as a transportation
hub of the country. The capital Seoul is about 50 minutes away by KTX high-speed train. No registration
fee will be charged following the policy of the Asian Workshops previously held. Important information
