Overview
The overall aim of this series of summer schools since 2013 is to offer the participants, mostly advanced graduate students and post-docs, an up-to-date view of contemporary research that links soft matter and biological physics in order to promote understanding of the basic science underlying biological materials and living organisms. This is achieved by assembling outstanding scientists from diverse disciplines who provide mini-courses on their areas of expertise.
The 2021 Soft Matter Summer School on “Emergence of Life” is formatted to Colloquium Series. The 11 speakers will each deliver 1.5 hour + 30 min Q&A colloquium lecture on a designated date. The foci of the Colloquium lecture will be on various issues concerning the emergence of life: (1) Stochastic Thermodynamics; (2) Information Processing in Biological Processes; (3) Quantitative Study and Engineering of Artificial Living Systems; (4) Active Matter; (5) Evolution; (6) Evolutionary Game Theory.
