General Relativity (May ~ July)

The preliminary investigations of Part I culminate in the derivation of General Relativity. In Part II, after the standard material on the weak field expansion, spherically symmetric solutions, and the action principle that follow, causal structures and Penrose diagrams are given full descriptions. Part II of the book includes a bare minimum overview of Cosmology as well as discussions of diverse solutions, which we will skip in the lectures and leave for exercises.
